TURNING WHITE (December 14, 2009)
At long last, it started snowing last night. It is still snowing this morning. By and by, Zagreb is turning white. Which is perhaps why I hear Christmas songs wherever I go now. The bawling. The moaning. My idea of hell. Having suffered the misery for so many years in the States and Britain, by now I am quite convinced that I would immediately recognize hell by the insipid music: “Holy Night” and “White Christmas” for ever and ever. The absolute pits.
