At some point Jozo Brandić comes up with an apt Bosnian proverb: “Me bey, you bey, but who will mind the horse?” Beys used to be high-ranking officials in the Ottoman Empire, which stretched all the way to Bosnia until a bit more than a century ago. Too many beys, that is.
