Why would Slavs be fonder of every form of corruption and bad faith than other Europeans? Among the last arrivals to the sub-continent, having nothing to offer but their knotted muscles, they had to fend for themselves as best they could from the very beginning. Other ways forward were not available to them, anyhow. Subjugated by earlier arrivals, as well as some later but more bloodthirsty arrivals that ultimately failed to take root on the European soil, they used cunning and subterfuge to their best advantage. And it worked miraculously enough. By and by, they captured more than they could even imagine capturing many centuries ago, when the world around them was falling apart already. So, why ever change their tack? Why ever try better tricks? Why ever abandon lying, thieving, and murdering on the sly? Besides, so many more plucky Slavs are still beyond Europe’s luscious borders. Press on, brothers, press on! Plumper than ever, Europe is still within your cunning reach!

Addendum I (April 2, 2017)

As immigrants from Asia and Africa head toward Europe’s borders in ever-larger numbers due to the ravages of climate change, environmental degradation, and the ensuing conflict, many Slavs will be heading the same merry way, as well. In terms of current national divisions, the bulk of them will be Russians. Of the right skin color and facial features, they will be way ahead of all the other immigrants from farther afield. And the embattled Europeans will accept most of them much more gladly than all the others. Besides, there is many a poorly paid job that still needs knotted muscles and willing hands. The migration that started a millennium and a half ago will be continued after a protracted pause. And it will gather momentum pretty fast. As for lying, thieving, and murdering on the sly, the new arrivals will fit rather well in their new environment. From the vantage point of migrating Slavs, Europe will feel very like home. Same old, as it were. Press on, brothers, press on! Europe is only next door!

Addendum II (January 11, 2024)

The war in Ukraine has started nearly two years ago, and the onslaught of Slavs has reached new heights in the European Union. Most of them are Ukrainians, but there are many Russians among them, as well. Those young men who do not want to fight are fleeing from Russia in droves. Of course, quite a few Slavs from the borders of the Union are also doing their best to escape into safer countries. By and by, Slavs are moving westward in staggering numbers. Their skin color is their greatest advantage, but they are also skilled in learning all sorts of Germanic languages they come across on their way. In a decade or two, most of them, and especially their children, will be unrecognizable in their new abodes. The way the world has been shaping as of late, many more Slavs from the western borders of the former Soviet Union will be moving in the same direction. And their many skills in subterfuge of all descriptions will come handy as the whole world finds itself on ever-shakier grounds. Chances are that Slavs will form the sturdiest regiments of the army that will defend the Union’s borders one fine day. Press on, brothers, press on! Europe is yours already!
