The Economist is officially published on Saturdays, but it actually comes out on Thursdays. When I am in Motovun, the newspaper usually reaches me by mail on Mondays. When in Zagreb, where I am right now, and where I will stay for another week, I purchase it in one of the bookstores on Fridays. As my first letters to the editor are written on Fridays and last ones on Wednesdays, it is only on Thursdays that I do not write to the mighty newspaper. Not a word! As it happens, today is Thursday, too. Boo-hoo!
