JUST A HOUSE (June 21, 2009)

I am sitting close to the entrance of Hotel Kaštel when two middle-aged women walk out. They just checked in, I guess. “It’s not a castle at all,” one of them says sourly in an Australian accent. “It’s just a house!” The other woman nods in agreement but remains quiet. Both of them fail to notice that this house—actually a palazzo of some vintage—is in the middle of a medieval fortification, which is in perfect shape. A failure of the hotel’s marketing department, I guess.
