HOME (August 31, 2009)

Thus the title of the 2008 movie by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, a French master of aerial photography, a copy of which I got on a compact disk from Guido Brečević, also known as Mineo, only a couple of days ago. The movie can be gotten on the World Wide Web for free. Taken from balloons and helicopters, it traces life on earth from its early days to the present. And its current convulsions due to the activities of the human species. I recommend it most sincerely. Breathtakingly beautiful, it may cause tears. It may also trigger deep anger. Upon some reflection, it is most likely to cause utter and irrevocable desperation. For the movie shows beyond any reasonable doubt that the human species has fouled its own home for good.
