Fellow Martians, let me open my testimony about life on earth by saying that I am delighted by your visit. Even more, I am delighted that you actually do exist!

I have never fallen for gods, but I have surely fallen for extraterrestrials, the good old Martians included. Indeed, this much I do have to admit at this stage of my life. Although I have never hallucinated about their coming to earth, let alone about spotting them here or there, I have certainly wished it quite fervently. Alas, my own species is simply too stupid for my personal taste! If only a species of appreciably greater intelligence would come to our rescue, everything would be rather different! Or would it? In short, my longing has a perfectly understandable origin. Which also holds for all the religions on offer, I suppose. The palpable failings of the human species cannot but feed delusions of all descriptions…
