Motorcyclists do not seem to be deterred by the growing number of fatal accidents on the road. Are these accidents, though? Or a species of conditional suicide.

This haiku seems to be on the right trail. Croatian newspapers are replete with articles about motorcycle accidents, which often come with gruesome pictures. Nonetheless, the roar of motorcycles continues. And this holds for both Zagreb and Motovun, both of which I know rather well by now. Ever since I moved to Croatia thirteen years ago, the number of motorcycles keeps growing. And so does the number of fatal accidents. Come to think of it, motorcyclists need to have their heads examined. I am ready to bet that quite a few among them suffer from suicidal tendencies. What the motorcycle offers to them is an exciting exit from this mortal coil.
