AN UNEXPECTED HUNCH (May 6, 2009)
Prompted by an unexpected hunch, first I search for “yoga” through the current volume of my Residua. The word pops up in only one piece, which was written just a few days into the year. As it happens, that was exactly four months ago. Then I search for “tantra,” and I find not a single piece containing this word. Is there any better expression of my plight? Nay, my demise!
Addendum (August 31, 2015)
Be it plight or outright demise, be it marked by the disappearance of “yoga” or “tantra” from my writings at the time, year 2009 was surely the pits in my life. And Slobodan Vugrinec surrounded by his Istrian Democratic Assembly stooges are squarely behind the misery. The then mayor of Motovun, and his superiors in the party hierarchy, made sure that I paid dearly for my interference with crooked golf development in the municipality. Although it was the global financial crisis of 2008 that actually spelled the end of corruption and organized crime surrounding the posh sport across Istria and Dalmatia, they needed to show their power by taking me to court on as many as three charges—two for libel and one for insult. I still cringe when I remember the musty court in Pazin, followed by interminable appeals to courts in Pula and Zagreb. What an ordeal! And how long it lasted! The show of power worked pretty well, I must admit, for it would not cross my mind ever again to get involved in any political battle in Croatia. Perish the thought. Politicians and judges form powerful teams in this crooked country. They are nigh invincible. Returning to yoga and tantra, it has taken me many years to return to where I started a few years before the nasty tangle with Vugrinec. But I am back in my stride, I am happy to report. Although tantra has petered out from my writings for the time being, yoga is flowering again. And a quick search through the last few volumes of my magnum opus shows it beyond any doubt. Hooray!
