A GRUMPY OLD MAN’S REVENGE (February 11, 2009)

It is Wednesday already, but The Economist has not yet arrived. Therefore, there will be no letters to the editor this week, either. A grumpy old man’s revenge.

Addendum (February 12, 2009)

The mighty newspaper finally arrived in this morning’s post. I did read quite a number of articles by the evening, but the enthusiasm to which I am accustomed while reading was sorely lacking. And it did not cross my mind even once to write anything in response to what I was reading. It was too late for that, for sure. Yes, I feel kind of angry. More, I feel hurt a bit. Although I know that the late delivery has little to do with the staff of The Economist, I cannot but feel that the Croatian distributor should have been selected with much greater care. No matter how few subscribers there may be in this godforsaken country, we ought to matter a bit more than seems to be the case. When it comes to his reading habits, this grumpy old man is rather implacable!
