A CROATIAN CO-PRODUCTION (May 15, 2009)
A few days ago, an announcement appeared all around Motovun to the effect that extras were needed for an American film to be made in town and several other places in Istria, which was to double as Tuscany at the end of World War II. Those interested were to appear on the upper square between three and seven o’clock today. Intrigued by the announcement, and especially by the American crew, I was there just before three, and I left twenty minutes later. A bunch of wannabe extras were there, as well, but there was no sign of the film crew. By the time I left, it was clear the film was but a Croatian co-production.
