Many people who live in Motovun all year long, but are not involved in tourism in any palpable way, are a bit annoyed with tourist throngs, especially when they crowd us out of stores, cafés, or restaurants that we consider rightfully ours. We can tell that they feel we are lucky that they are here, for they assume we all must be making a living from tourism in one way or another, and we feel that it is they who are lucky that we are here, for the stores, cafés, and restaurants could not survive without us who live here all year long. As a matter of fact, we are as lucky as they are that Motovun is here in the first place.
