Before my trip to Zagreb this coming weekend, I am going through the list of things to take, places to visit, and things to do or buy. “Trip to Zagreb” is the name of the file where this kind of stuff is stored on my computer. I update it from time to time, but I have not touched it for quite a few months. To my surprise, the list of things to take strikes me as rather depressing: calendar, notebook, bank debit card, reading glasses, spare contact lens… Yuck. But then I realize that the list is liable to get much longer as years go by: slippers, support socks, toupee, knee braces, diapers, spare dentures… As soon as I consider the extended list in the requisite detail, though, I start laughing out loud. So far, so good. The list of things to take is just as it should be.
