TLÖN’S MESSAGE (December 16, 2008)
“We must never forget that evolution has taken an enormous amount of time,” whispered Tlön out of the blue, “and that no system can simulate it in spite of its superior intelligence.” He was alone in his cockpit, but he knew that some of his mates could still hear him after a growing lag. “This is where we come in, no matter how poor our performance may be in almost everything we do, relatively speaking.” Staring into the darkness ahead of him, he focused on every single word. “Our emotions give us a slight edge in some highly unpredictable situations, which is why we are still around.” Focusing ever more, he closed his eyes. “We are needed, and that is how things will remain as long as we understand our evolutionary advantage.” Tlön opened his eyes and looked at the instruments in front of him. “Perhaps all of this will get through,” he whispered as if to himself.
