THE OLD THEORETICIAN (June 17, 2008)

“The Russian women are quite…,” starts one at Klaudio’s terrace as a small group of Russian tourists passes our table. “But not all,” jumps in another as everyone turns around to stare after a pair of long legs. “Not all, but quite a number,” explains the first with an expert tilt of the head. “But the men are far from good looking,” jumps in the third with a smug smirk. “In fact,” muses the first, “I haven’t seen a single one.” “Remember,” I wade in at last, “the men with money to spare bring here only the best-looking women they can find!” Everyone nods as the Russian tourists turn a corner, but without much enthusiasm. The old theoretician, again.
