MOTOVUN IS DOUBTLESS SPECIAL (May 14, 2008)

I was awoken by the plaintive calls of the uninterruptible power supply system: “No juice, no juice…” The surprising bit was that I could also hear the cement mixer next to my house. Zdravko Košutić’s house across the street is in the early stages of refurbishment. It did not take me long to realize what was going on. Željko Vukadinović’s house, also across the street and recently refurbished, was being connected to the electrical network. Every new house on Borgo means an hour or so without juice. As well as no shower, no shaving, and so on. I have no idea how such things are done elsewhere, but Motovun is doubtless special. And especially nowadays, when refurbishing is going on everywhere around town. At any rate, the insistent calls of the UPS system are with me for ever.
