IN THE NICK OF TIME (July 18, 2008)

After many a scorching day, it rained this morning. And it really rained for a couple of hours. The two large barrels in my garden are now full to the brim. As I emptied them both yesterday evening, I was getting worried about the garden. The potatoes are about to be taken out of the ground, and they do not need any water at this stage, but tomatoes, peppers, and carrots would soon perish without it. The rain came in the nick of time. Which is why I feel elated this morning. I feel jubilant. I feel fortunate and maybe even privileged. Yes, privileged. How else explain this providential rain?!
