GOOGLE ANALYTICS (November 16, 2008)

“I assume there’s a statistics package attached to your blog,” wrote my No. 1 son, Marko, a few days ago. “For instance,” he continued, “it’s especially interesting to see which terms people search by the most.” And then he suggested that I contact Paul Bazay, who designed the Residua website under Marko’s guidance. “Unfortunately,” wrote Paul the next day, “your site is not being tracked by any statistics package, but we’ve now added Google Analytics to the site, so you can use it from now on.” He instructed me how to sign up with Google Analytics, which I did at once. And what a joy it has turned out to be! Although there is still much to learn, I quickly got the bearings of the new tool, and I check the statistics a few times a day. One of my favorite new toys is the map of the world showing all visits to my Residua by country. When I click any of the countries from which one or more visits has come, I get the names of places, too. “My boy,” I just wrote to Marko, “many thanks for your timely statistics prompt!”
