FROM ONE COUNTRY TO ANOTHER (November 7, 2008)

I do not know anyone who is as decisive as I am. As cunning in choosing the right moment to strike. As clear about what is to be done and how. As able to stick to one’s decisions to the bitter end. And as capable of enjoying their consequences to the hilt. Which is perhaps why I have been moving from one country to another so many times in my short life.

Addendum (November 15, 2015)

And moving is the word. From Serbia in Yugoslavia to Massachusetts in the States. From Massachusetts to Slovenia in Yugoslavia. From Slovenia back to Massachusetts. From Massachusetts to England in the United Kingdom. And from England to Croatia after the breakdown of Yugoslavia. While in England, I was thinking about moving first to Italy, and then to Mauritius, Madagascar, Zanzibar, and many other countries. And while in Croatia I have been thinking about moving to Italy and New Zealand. Forever moving in futile search of the land I could call my own. To turn the old Latin proverb around: Nusquam bene, nusquam patria.
