BOUND TO KEEP GROWING (September 12, 2008)

It is just past noon, and the heat is rising. I am going around the house and closing all the shutters, as well as doors and windows. As I am closing the shutters in the kitchen, an insect flies in, lands briefly on my left arm, and then scurries back out just before the exit is barred until evening. “Clever thing,” I find myself muttering in approval. My love of insects is growing by the day. It is bound to keep growing, too.
