THE CLOUD OBSERVATORY (September 9, 2007)
Now that it has become much cooler than in mid-summer, my terrace is once again the place to be. It is like an oven in late July and early August but now the sun feels good—nay, delicious. Sitting under the open sky, I can watch the clouds float by for hours. The terrace is a veritable cloud observatory, too. Half of the sky is right above it. There are no obstructions all the way to the horizon, either. When I sat down and looked up a short while ago, I was taken aback: swirls of feathery clouds high above were so beautiful I immediately thought of my camera. But then I decided to go to my study and turn my computer on, instead. The cloud observatory is now uppermost in my mind, while the clouds themselves can wait a bit longer.
