OVEREXPOSURE (August 7, 2007)
The last month or so, I have been suffering from overexposure. Too many humans around me, that is. The tourist season, the friends who flock to Motovun during the summer months, the film festival… According to some credible estimates, more than thirty-thousand people came to town during the festival alone. Seven or eight times that many people squeeze through these narrow streets and squares during the tourist season. In short, overexposure is the word. It is not such a great discovery, but it still elates me. As always, it is the simplest discoveries that delight me most. In practical terms, I must carve out more time for myself during the busiest months of the year. And I must protect that time with much greater care. Too many humans can drive you crazy. Stark raving crazy, too.
