MY WHOLE PERSONALITY (October 25, 2007)

Soon after I painted my last two boards, I took several pictures of the two on the wall. And then I took several pictures of myself in front of the paintings. I sent a picture of the whole wall to Dorian and a picture of myself to Maya. “Here’s a picture of my new paintings among the old ones,” I wrote to Dorian. “Here’s a picture of me as I look right now,” I wrote to Maya. “Compare pictures,” I wrote to both of them. And so they did, but only Maya replied. “Dorian says that this one picture describes your whole personality,” wrote Maya. “It’s a great picture,” she added. “Tell me how you see me after all these years,” I pleaded repeatedly with both of them ever since, but to no avail. Only Maya wrote a few additional words, but she only repeated what Dorian had said. Judging from my children’s reticence, they cannot be besotted with my whole personality.
