HOW SIMPLE (December 8, 2007)
Over morning coffee, Jozo Brandić is talking about a friend of his, a painter of some renown many years back, when they were still close. One fine day another man stole his girlfriend. He was taken aback. By and by, he got very confused. He could not get reconciled with the unexpected loss for quite a long time. “You don’t seem to understand how simple life actually is,” a close friend of the painter tried to help him out of his predicament at some point. “You paint well, but the other fellow fucks well. See?” After a hearty laugh, Jozo goes for the moral of the story. “It may sound rather trite,” he says with all the seriousness he can muster, “but, as the fellow explained, life is actually pretty simple.”
