TAKING IT EASY (December 22, 2005)

I am supposed to be taking it easy, everyone tells me. Ever a good patient, I am staying at home. Minus the morning coffee and the evening drink at Klaudio’s, that is. Well, every day I make it to the post office, as well. And I go to the store every other day. But that is all. The rest of the time I am staying at home and taking it easy for true. Motovun’s cobblestone streets jiggle my ribs a bit too much, anyhow. How am I supposed to be taking it easy, though? My back already hurts from lying down. My bottom already hurts from sitting. My calves already hurt from kneeling. Having tried everything else, now I am taking it easy by standing. Standing by the window and looking at the frozen landscape, for instance. Or standing by the dining table and reading a book. Or standing at the kitchen counter and eating. It will work for a while, I guess. Until my feet begin to hurt. And what then? Levitating?
