MY FILL OF SNOW (November 28, 2005)
For a week or so I have been hearing about snow in Motovun. “Have you seen the snow this morning?” people would ask me with big grins on their faces. “Snow? When?” Without fail, it snows too early for me to witness the spectacle, and the people just shake their heads. Today it snowed between six and seven. Two days ago it snowed around nine. Way too early, still. By the time I wake up and open the shutters of my bedroom, not a trace of snow remains. It never snows for more than a few minutes, anyway. Although I did consider waking up a bit earlier to catch the snow, the impulse has evaporated rather quickly. According to the meteorologists, this winter is supposed to be quite cold. If they are to be trusted nowadays, and this is a big “if” in the age of climate change, even I will have my fill of snow. And I will not have to wait for it for very long.
