UNPACKING (July 21, 2003)

My stuff was supposed to arrive in Motovun sometime today, Monday. I came here yesterday afternoon, delayed by a day by the British Airways strike. When I opened the door of my new house, I was surprised by all the boxes pilled up in it. At first I thought the builders had carelessly left some of their stuff, but a split-second later I recognized my boxes, some of which I used when I moved from London to Reading five years ago. Tired as I was when I got to Motovun, I immediately searched for the boxes with my paintings and put them up as quickly as I could. The battens for their display were installed a week or two ago. Although most of this week will be spent unpacking, since yesterday evening I feel that I have moved in already. My paintings did the trick once again.
