THE GOOD LIFE (January 3, 2003)
Sitting in Café Florian on Piazza San Marco and sipping champagne. On our way here from the Academia Bridge, we shared a fine Havana cigar. Every now and then we burst into laughter on account of our own behavior. We are victims of the good life.
Addendum (December 22, 2016)
We? My beloved and I, of course. At the time, my house in Motovun was being refurbished. I would come from Reading from time to time for a quick review of the house’s progress. And my beloved would join me for a few days each and every time. By then, we were as good as married. To my joy, we are still married so many years later. What is more, there is no blemish to our marriage. Very much in love, we stay true to each other. If there are any changes in our relationship, they are for the better. As well as more true. To put it in a nutshell, we are victims of the good life for ever and ever.
