SO MUCH OF IT (August 9, 2003)
Wasps, ants, flies, moths, butterflies, locusts, spiders, praying mantises, scorpions… My new world is buzzing, creeping, rattling, crawling with life. There is so much of it that I rarely hesitate to swat, bang, squash, splat, crush the most vexing creatures or species around me. After several weeks in Istria, I feel that I have become somewhat callous about its fauna, though. Issa’s tender poetry comes to my mind more and more often.
