Years ago, I used to call Lauren my žena, which means both “woman” and “wife” in Serbo-Croatian. In English, I called her “woman,” which adds up to slightly less. She was hardly pleased, and she sometimes objected to my supposed rudeness. Anita has been my žena for a year or two. But I now call her my pička, as well, which means both “cunt” and “woman” in the language of my youth. She is well pleased. And rightly so.
