A RESIDUAL SPORT: FROM AN ELECTRONIC-MAIL MESSAGE TO SIMON LARTER (March 10, 2003)
Just went through Residua in search of the theme I mentioned in the last message: women versus hunting, war, and other good things. Found three pieces that fit the bill: “On Hunting” (March 14, 1996), “Downsized: A Letter to The Economist” (December 25, 2001), and “On African Drumming” (September 17, 2002). Perhaps one more piece could be added here, although it does not even mention the other gender: “Hope” (February 11, 1997). Again, the point is that women are a residual sport, as it were.
