WWW.HEREFORDSALON.ORG (June 9, 2000)
The Hereford Salon website, designed and maintained by Simon Rae-Scott of ConnectWorks Limited, has been in existence for more than two years, but it now has its own Web domain rather than being part of CompuServe, with its cumbersome address and poor access. Naturally, the site has changed considerably since its inception. For instance, it now offers images of artists’ work, thus serving as a virtual gallery. It will soon be possible to download the Salon publications, with the exception of my Residua, which will appear under its own domain name, www.residua.org, in a few weeks. A link between the two sites will make it possible to order from the Salon, the publisher, a copy of the 1996 edition of my book, but the electronic version will be free. Returning to the Hereford Salon site, it is here to stay. Even if Lauren and I ever wanted to get rid of it, a trace of it would forever remain someplace on the Internet. Once there, it is virtually impossible to remove: the blessing and the curse of the new technology.
