CULTURE WARS (June 27, 2000)
Reflecting on the first conference organized by the Institute of Ideas, as well as the first conference organized at Tate Modern, which took place at the Starr Auditorium this Sunday, I cannot but marvel at the old spectacle: the bloodiest of wars, the wars without mercy, including those in the domain of culture, are always fought between those who are the closest, those who are barely distinguishable from each other—in fact, those who are essentially the same.
