AN IDEA FOR A JOINT PROJECT AT ARTI ET AMICITIAE: FROM A LETTER TO JACQUES VAN ALPHEN (August 28, 2000)
As an old association promoting friendship among artists, Arti et Amicitiae would be interested, I am sure, in a joint project, where you—in the capacity of the editor of Statement Art—would curate a show of my postcards about art in their gallery. Having received hundreds of my cards already, and having already published many of them in your magazine, you will have no trouble selecting a dozen or so that are relevant to the contemporary art scene in Amsterdam. After all, London is not that far from you. Arti et Amicitiae will finance the color reproduction and enlargement of the postcards to, say, A1 or A0 format; you—that is, Statement Art—and them can split the proceeds of sale after their costs are covered; and I will be more than happy to forfeit my share of the proceeds in lieu of the membership fee. To put a cherry on the cake, we could combine the opening of the show with a small ceremony accepting me as a new member. Simply perfect, you must agree!
