AGAIN AND AGAIN (April 30, 2000)
I learned about Zingmagazine, published since 1997 or 1998 in New York, from Giles Prince more than a year ago. He had learned about it the same day, when Mary Barone brought the art magazine’s editor and publisher, Devon Dikeou, to Giles’ shop off Brick Lane. I have been sending postcards to Devon ever since, but she has never responded. In the meanwhile, my stuff has appeared in several other magazines, which I have approached this way. Today I got the last issue from Mary. For some reason, I was surprised not to find in it a single thing of mine. Incredulous, I went through it again and again. For some reason, again, the magazine felt like home. It goes without saying that few things are as treacherous as is old home.
