Heatwave after heatwave, I feel cooked. And so does almost everyone else in Motovun. Although it rains from time to time, albeit briefly, this only brings more dampness to the air, as well as endless sweating. Which is why almost everyone I know is looking forward to the winter already. Winters are hardly winters any longer, but one can still adjust to the changes in weather much more easily than during the sweltering summers. Adding or subtracting a piece of clothing is a piece of cake, that is. The way the weather has been changing, fewer and fewer among us will be looking forward to the summer in the years to come. By and by, it will become the season to worry about. And the season to fear, too. Judging by the speed with which the weather has been shifting lately, this may well be a question of a few years only.
