FRIDAYS FOR FUTURE (March 31, 2020)

Fridays for Future is an international movement initiated in August 2018 after Greta Thunberg started protesting in front of the Swedish parliament on account of the lack of action concerning the climate crisis. Amazingly enough, she was fifteen at the time. Ever since, the movement has its own website (www.fridaysforfuture.org). Last month I sent a brief and friendly message to Greta via the site. I attached my book about climate change, which is available for free in Portable Document Format on my Ca’ Bon Gallery site (www.cabongallery.org). The book is far from optimistic about the human ability to deal with climate change, though. In the message, I advised her to pay attention to disaster management, which may spell the future for the human species. Today’s youngsters would do well by learning about it well in advance, I suggested kindly. And I signed myself as an emeritus professor. Although the message has not bounced back, I have not heard from anyone at the site, let alone Greta herself. I did not expect any response, it goes without saying. Alas, it is more than obvious from my academic title that I am likely to die from old age rather than climate change!
