TWELVE DAYS IN A ROW (April 15, 2019)
According to my five-year plan, another big feat is right ahead of me (“My Five-Year Plan,” December 29, 2016). Starting tomorrow, I will write not a word for twelve days in a row. And I have been quite excited about the prospect way ahead of this period. Day by day, the excitement has only grown the last few days. Enough boasting, though. A hundred pieces of writing and as many addenda per year is my goal for the final years of my writing project (“Nifty Numbers,” March 1, 2016). Once I get there, and I hope it will take me not too many years, I will let my excitement flourish without any hesitation.
Addendum (April 28, 2019)
Twelve days in a row without a single word are behind me by now. Year by year, feats like this one have become kind of ordinary. Actually, routine. At this stage, two more stretches of this kind are still ahead of me: thirteen days in a row from November 6 to 18 later this year, and fourteen days in a row from February 7 to 20 early next year. By the end of the next and last year of my present plan, I hope to control my writing urge without any plans, let alone long-term ones. But only time will tell, it goes without saying. The best I can do for the time being is to keep going with my tenacious commitment to control my writing urge with all my might. And might is the word (Addendum of October 26, 2016, to “Omni dies sine linea,” January 6, 2012). Three cheers for my five-year plan!
