THIS WASTED WORLD (January 24, 2019)

Since waste sorting was launched in Motovun, I have learned that plastic dominates my waste. But there is no way around it. Plastic dominates this wasted world.

Addendum (March 7, 2019)

According to recent research, microplastic pollution now spans the entire planet. It is generated not only by the breakdown of plastic litter, but also by synthetic clothing, vehicle tires, and the spillage of plastic pellets used by manufacturers, among other things. Up to five millimeters in size, plastic debris can be found at the bottom of deepest oceans and at the top of highest mountains. It can be found in all kinds of soils. Actually, plastic debris can be found absolutely everywhere. Microplastics are consumed via water and food by many species, including humans at the top of the vaunted food chain. New research has also established that many types of bacteria now inhabit all sorts of plastic debris, but their effect on humans is not yet clear. Indeed, plastic dominates this wasted world. And it may take millions upon millions of years to get rid of it.
