MY NEW NEW THEORY (February 4, 2019)
About a month ago, I extended my theory about the brontosaurus-like shape of my magnum opus with a few wise words concerning the position of the beast’s head (Addendum of January 8, 2019, to “My New Theory,” October 19, 2014). And I am excited by these words to this day. Whence my new new theory, of course. The head of the brontosaurus is where its brain is, and its brain controls its intricate nervous system that stretches all the way to its tail. In the case of Residua, these are addenda and citata, the interlacing that makes it a whole. The former have been with me since the onset of my writing project, but the latter have seen the light of day only in the new millennium (“Citata, Addenda,” December 20, 2017). The last decade or so, their number has exploded, too. Indeed, the citata now lead to my favorite pieces of writing, which bring the entire endeavor together (“Most to My Liking,” December 4, 2018; and “Citata to Promote,” January 15, 2019). In short, the brontosaurus’ head is still being shaped, whereas its tail is reaching into the murky past. The languid tail twitches every now and then, and the vigorous head still needs a few finishing touches, but the nervous system at its core is bound to get ever more intricate till my last day. Sooner or later, the beast will be whole at long last. And it will be roaring for all to hear as it rears on its hind legs and wriggles its mighty tail.
