AMONG SINISTER YOGIS (March 27, 2019)
Musing about the title of one of David Gordon White’s books, which I am rereading now, I cannot but wonder whether he would place me, too, among sinister yogis.
Addendum (December 21, 2019)
The first adjective the thesaurus that comes with my word-processing software offers for the word “sinister” is “menacing.” It is followed by quite a few supplementary adjectives: “ominous,” “threatening,” “evil,” “disturbing,” “creepy,” and “baleful.” Wow! Although I would drop “evil” as an adjective that pertains to much of my writings, all the remaining ones strike me as nigh appropriate. Put differently, I would not be surprised if I were placed among sinister yogis by White or anyone else. Whence this haiku in the first place, it goes without saying. Deep down, I see liberation as an escape from the human mind (“No-Bullshit Enlightenment,” January 18, 2016). By extension, I also see it as an escape from the human race and its ominous fate (“On Liberation,” October 4, 2017). All things considered, I would not mind being placed among sinister yogis. Not in the least.
