Addendum (March 15, 2019)

Pray, what is this haiku about? It is about one of my favorite pictures on the desktop of my laptop, which shows a male gorilla reclining in thick foliage and staring in front of himself (“Fuck Evolution,” January 29, 2018). As the picture shows beyond any doubt, the blessed gorilla knows everything there is to know about a few things essential to his survival, as well as the survival of his kin, and he could not care less about all the rest. In spite of some ten-million years of evolution that separate us, I am doing my best to follow his example. And I am overwhelmed by joy whenever I feel that I am on the right path. This haiku marks such a moment, of which there are quite a few as of late. Fuck evolution, indeed.
