THE CROATIAN VULTURE (November 19, 2016)
How to draw the Croatian vulture? This is an art project for all. To begin with, get a large map of Croatia. And then draw a circle around the following twenty-two cities and towns, which are listed in alphabetical order: Đakovo, Dubrovnik, Hvar, Karlovac, Knin, Korčula, Lastovo, Metković, Mljet, Motovun, Okučani, Osijek, Pula, Rijeka, Senj, Split, Umag, Varaždin, Virovitica, Vukovar, Zadar, and Zagreb. Now draw the vulture’s head by connecting with straight lines Rijeka, Umag, Pula, and Rijeka again. Draw a point in Motovun, the vulture’s eye. Its body follows by connecting Rijeka, Senj, Zadar, Split, Metković, Knin, Karlovac, and Rijeka again. Its tail connects Metković and Dubrovnik. The vulture’s wing connects Karlovac, Zagreb, Varaždin, Virovitica, Osijek, and Vukovar. The wing is completed by connecting first Virovitica and Okučani, and then Osijek and Đakovo. Its leg and claws, which are trailing in flight, connect Split and Hvar, and then Hvar and Lastovo, Hvar and Mljet, and Hvar and Korčula. Now you have the Croatian vulture entire, and it is flying westward, as ever. Note that Ogulin is at its very heart. Executed with aplomb by carefully selecting all the drawing utensils, it will be the pride of every home. Enjoy!
