There is no way to end terrorism in this civilization. It is the sole option for many. The only way to end terrorism is to end this civilization in the bargain.

Addendum (December 22, 2016)

After a series of terrorist attacks, there is quite a bit on offer on how to beat it. One of the most inane tacks in the fight against terrorism is about stopping immigration altogether. Immigrants are perceived as the sole terrorists, that is. The next tack in line of inanity is about increasing police surveillance. In short, policemen are perceived as the sole protectors. And the last credible tack in the same line is to annihilate the terrorists in the countries where they come from. This time around, it is the military that comes to the fore. All these tacks have repercussions, it goes without saying, but they are customarily shoved under the rug. One thing that is left out of all discussions of this sort is the question about its causes. By implication, terrorists are nothing but nasty people. Or sheer beasts, as the common expression goes. The possibility that terrorism is part and parcel of this failing civilization is not even considered, let alone examined. Alas, I am only wasting my time with my fellow humans…
