In my fight against newspapers, I am grasping for straws. Thus I have come across a quote from Mark Twain to the effect that you are uninformed if you do not read newspapers, but that you are misinformed if you read them. Apparently, the American writer has left many a useful quote of this ilk. He must have been quite wise. At any rate, I prefer to be uninformed than to be misinformed. Bye-bye, newspapers! With Twain’s able assistance, I am likely to beat the bad habit so much faster than I have expected. In my mind, it is pretty close to tobacco and alcohol. Tobacco is behind me already, and alcohol is on its way to a bearable minimum. And so are newspapers.
