THE MOST INTERRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGY IN THE WORLD (April 10, 2015)
I love mobile-phone text-messages for several reasons, but the main one is that they are not interruptive. I can read them whenever I want. Even more important, I can respond to them at my leisure. In addition, they are short and to the point. But it is amazing how many messages of this ilk reach me while I am peeing or shitting. Or while I am rushing hither or thither on an inescapable chore. Each and every time I receive a mobile-phone text-message at an inopportune time, I remember Alexander Graham Bell. And I get angry in a jiffy. May the inventor of the most interruptive technology in the world roast in hell! No wonder I do not have a proper telephone at home ever since my retirement. Most of my friends do not call me on my mobile phone, either, for they know that I am quite unlikely to respond. Instead, they send me messages, which are a pleasure to deal with. Short and to the point, my responses come forth as soon as I finish peeing, shitting, or taking care of some other pressing chore. Telephone, schmelephone.
