THE GREEN EXPLOSION (June 23, 2015)
After a bit more than three weeks in Zagreb, my terrace and garden are hard to recognize. The wisteria is in its second bloom, while the bignonia is blooming for the first time. Both creepers have grown many a new branch in the meanwhile. The common houseleek is exploding in its planters. One of them has sprouted pink flowers on a tall and thick stalk. Only the yucca has bloomed and wilted in my absence, and it looks forlorn right now. The garden is overgrown with weeds, and I will have to protect the three fig trees from their incursion any day soon. The green explosion is amazing to behold from the terrace. The trees under the garden are bursting with life. The Mirna valley is as green as green can be. With its rain and shine, Istria is a plant heaven. If I were to go away for a year, I would have hard time recognizing my house. The terrace and garden would have been out of my reach by then.
