SUCH A MONSTER (June 8, 2015)

I am walking behind an obese woman who waddles along at a slow pace as her abundant lard shivers and shakes. The sidewalk is narrow, and she is blocking my way. It takes me a while to realize that she is pushing a baby carriage in front of her. As far as I can tell, the infant is not yet a year old. “Grandchild?” it crosses my mind. I look a bit more closely, and I figure that the whale of a woman in front of me must be in her mid-thirties, if not even younger. “Gosh,” I let it rip just before I manage to overtake her, “who in the world would fuck such a monster?!” Glancing at her face from the corner of my eye, I can see that she is quite content with her lot, and maybe even happy. Pushing her little treasure in front of her, she is an accomplished woman. Besides, her next meal is just behind the corner. Out of the blue, my heart goes to the baby’s missing parent. “Poor devil,” I sigh as I hurry along.
