SPRING FLOWERS (February 20, 2015)
On my walks around the Croatian capital, which have become quite frequent during the current sunny spell, I see ever more spring flowers in bloom. Today I saw them everywhere I went, but especially on wooded slopes facing south. There are snowdrops, daisies, and crocuses among them, but many of their names are beyond me. Having just read a weather forecast for next week, I almost laughed out loud at indications of snow. It is not going to last long, I am pretty sure. Besides, the spring flowers can take some snow, too. In fact, they may even relish it. But if I would have to choose my meteorologists, I would go for spring flowers without any hesitation. They have been around this planet for more than a hundred-million years, while meteorologists worthy of that name have been around for about a millionth of that time. In short, spring is nigh. Easy-peasy, to be sure.
