ONE MORE WORLD (October 13, 2015)
God made this world, right? He or she did not make himself or herself, though. Therefore, he or she must have come from some other world, which was made by someone like him or her. God of that world must have come from yet another world, which was made by yet another one like him or her. And so on, and so forth. It follows that there must be an infinite number of gods, as well as worlds made by them. So, who the hell cares about the whole lot? Make one more world in your own turn, and do it as it strikes your fancy!

Pray, what is this piece about? To begin with, it is about a koan of mine inviting all and sundry to make worlds of their own (“A Bon Koan,” February 16, 2013). More important, it is about a world I eventually made all by myself (“No-Bullshit Enlightenment,” January 18, 2016). When this piece was penned, I was not fully aware of the world I was about to make in a few short months, but it was there all right. I could smell it. I could feel it, too. In retrospect, it overshadowed the world I was born into by a huge margin. One more world, indeed. And one very to my liking, too. Abandoning thought at will and for as long as one wishes…
